Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941)

La dernière moisson - The Last Harvest

From January 27th to March 11th 2012

One year ago, Rabindranath Tagore's birthday was celebrated. The Petit Palais presents 85 of his paintings and drawings.

Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), the author of the Indian national anthem, is also famous for being the first non-Western writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913.

Eclectic, abundant and plentiful, his work constitutes a vital artistic link between India and the rest of the world: through his paintings, which are inspired by a profound humanism, Tagore appeals to the whole world and still inspires the most modern artists in India today..

This exhibition was realised with the support of the ministère des Affaires Étrangères et Européennes, the ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, the Institut français and the Embassy of India in France
